A PRIMARY VALUE

I've been exploring self development for the past few years. Who am I? What's important to this gal? Me. What's she all about. In this process of reflecting on what I see and experience, think about and strive for... I have been seeing some patterns.

A PRIMARY VALUE

THE ENERGY OF RED

Ever since my grandmother Ursula bought me a pair of crimson silk high heeled Valentinos to wear to my senior prom, I’ve loved the bold and sensual qualities of the color. I felt young and wild that night.

TAKE AN INDULGENT MOMENT

Engaging my senses makes me feel vibrant and centered and optimistic. This is one of the ways I’m exploring mindfulness. I’m trying to stay authentically present (though not always easy) and conscious of how my life experiences make me feel each day. This creates a thread and that thread helps me understand who I am and in what direction I'm going.

TAKE AN INDULGENT MOMENT

NOW OR NEVER

In San Francisco, the spring days have been bright and the parks are all effervescent with this puffy white charlock that reminds me of the poppy fields of Oz. The time I've spent outside in the last few weeks has loosened some gears inside my creative mind…Birds are such a signal of spring to me and even living in the city, with a fire escape outside my window, I am thrilled to be visited by the occasional feathered friend.

I AM GOLD

With it being Valentine's day I thought it would be appropriate to share some things that I find make me feel alive, optimistic, and self-loved.

VISIT: WINTER IN SWEDEN

After Thanksgiving, I travelled to Stockholm, Sweden where my best friend has moved with her Swedish fiancé. Walking around the city with these two was so fun, there is so much to see in this beautiful city! Some call it "Venice of the north" because of all the islands (12) and bridges (42). We spent the week ducking into shops and cafés, trying to stay warm (30 degrees!) and grinning at all the Christmas lights and decorations.

TABLESCAPE CURATE

I'm feeling contrast and drama ~ a tablescape in the dark! Spanish Baroque painter, Juan Sánchez Cotán, created still lifes, or bodegones in the 1660s, in a strikingly austere style that feels fresh and modern today. Less is more and black is back.

MY ICON // ELSIE DE WOLFE

Elsie de Wolfe (1865-1950) is said to be the original interior designer. She was the first person to gain wide public attention and praise for interior design and has become known as the most famous decorator of the early 20th century.
