I love FASHION WEEK - In college, I took an internship at Vera Wang in New York, the winter of 2005. We spent several months designing and editing the Fall 2006 Ready-to-Wear Collection. For weeks, I think I only ate peanut m&ms for lunch every day and slept only 5 hours a night!
I spent weeks running around to every production shop on 7th ave, lugging samples and picking up materials… my last day of work, was the runway show at Bryant Park. Focusing on details such as fabrication or embroidery, I wasn’t always sure what the big picture was. The best part of the whole experience was seeing how the team’s concept and vision came together in the end. The day of the show I was backstage watching the models get their hair and make-up done and organizing the samples. In a moment of panic about a piece of tulle that had not been stitched in place, I did my best handiwork and turned around to get a wink from Vera— that I will never forget.
Fashion is about inspiration, optimism and manifesting how you want to feel — so it’s not surprising that I love the energy of it. Even though all around us are reminders that its fall and the stores are filling with sweaters and wool, the designers are way ahead showing collections for next year. I thought it would be fun to pull together the most interesting Spring 2019 collections. Click on the images to see the full collections.
